Noir-ish

Frank Durabont is working with TNT to make a new TV series called “LA Noire”.  Unfortunately it’s not based on the awesome Rockstar video game but fortunately it IS based on the excellent novel by “LA Confidential” writer John Buntin.  I’m a fan of this news mainly because I love me some noire.

Maltese Falcon is one of favourite movies. A flick I wouldn’t mind them remaking if done right.  And before you fan boys get in tizzy the “Maltese Falcon” is a remake of a film they did TWICE already. What’s not to love?  A hard boiled Han Solo-ish lead, quirky sinister villains and dangerous dames who’ll kill you with their looks and the knife they’re hiding in their hands.  Noire is so pulpy and melodramatic that it reminds of comic books without the tight spandex. So with this news plus the upcoming remake of the Great Gatsby I’m hoping there’s a mini comeback of noire fueled stories on film and TV.  Hopefully it’ll do better than the western comeback that was supposed to happen last year. Cowboys & Aliens anyone?

Yeah.

For some reason she reminds me of Lady GaGa.  Which is weird 'cause I'm not a fan.
